Philosophy may be a study of the fundamental nature of knowledge reality and existence. But Periyar’s philosophy is Self-Respect, Humanism, and Social Justice. Ever since he came out of Congress in 1925, he spared no pains to highlight the ideals of the Self-Respect Movement, all over the country. In keeping alive the movement, he had to swim against the cross currents of dare-devil communalism and die-hard orthodoxy.
Besides, explaining how theocracy and monarchy crumbled to the floor in neighboring Nepal, the essay touches upon the need for redressing the grievances of Madhesis, besides highlighting where certain amendments are essential in the Constitution of Nepal.
